Welcome to my OpenWrt page.

I have been working with OpenWrt for some time and made some interesting expieriences. As a complete Linux newbie it was pretty hard to get along with its sometimes very incomplete documentation.

This is why I decided to support the developers of Openwrt inofficially, with providing an alternative to official documentation. Additionally i'll try to give some extra information, which could be useful for beginners. But i won't guarantee the functionality or the completeness of these Information. Most of these pages are available in english and german. If so, you'll find some links in the upper right corner with a language iso-code (e.g. en, de). To switch the language of the current page, just click one of these links.

I'm from Germany, so please excuse my mistakes. Perhaps you find the time to report some errors, I will try to correct them.

My expieriences are nearly all based on the device Asus WL-500g Premium, but most of the time the provided tutorials can be used for nearly every other device that is supported by OpenWrt.

Before you start, here are some tips, which should make the first steps easier:

  • Use a recent OpenWrt version, at the moment its "Kamikaze"
  • Don't use tutorials, software or packages, you find somewhere in the internet and which are not claimed to work with your system, device or even OpenWrt
  • Don't change nvram-settings, if you don't exactly know what your doing, especially, if it is described in tutorials. These tutorials are to old in the most cases
  • Don't hope to get a ready working OpenWrt system with everything you wanted to run after one single hour, if you are a beginner
  • Read the quickstart tutorial in "Tutorials" to get useful information for beginners

Have fun...
